FAQ’s

I have received massage, physical therapy and chiropractic adjustments for my back pain. How can Total Motion Release help me when the others have not?

As you can tell from the videos there is no other pain relief program like Total Motion Release.  All our staff are highly trained clinicians and masters at applying TMR to a variety of pain complaints, muscle disorders, joint aches and pre & post surgery condtions.  We pioneered this program and we are constantly striving to re-invent it so that we always stay on the cutting edge of progress.
Do I need a physician referral to be treated at Total Motion Physical Therapy?

In North Carolina, we are a Direct Access state, which means you can come directly to a physical therapist without needing a referral from a physician.  Medicare requires patients to have a referral from a physician.  If you have medicare we can help you get the referral you need.  Give us a call.
What should I bring to the first appointment

Please fill out the appropriate New Patient Form.  These are located under the Patient Forms button.  If you are not sure which ones to fill out please call our office and we will be glad to help you.  You will also need to bring your health insurance card and your co-payment.
What should I wear?

Loose-fitting, comfortable clothing is recommended. If you are coming from work and in work clothes you may want to bring shorts or sweatpants and a T-shirt.

How often will I need to attend physical therapy?

Most patients are treated three times per week for 4 weeks for a total of 10-12 visits. We want you back to your regular routine and life as quickly as possible.  Patients who complete this level of care experience a 88-92% relief in their symptoms.

During these visits, most patients experience relief on the 1st visit, notice a significant improvement in their activities of daily living within 5-6 visits and learn the entire process in about 12 visits.  You’ll learn a skill you can use for the rest of your life.  It is inevitable, you will hurt yourself again, someplace in your body, and now you will be able to do something about it without unnecessary visits to a healthcare provider.
Is treatment covered by health insurance

We accept almost every type of Health Insurance, including Medicare.  We do not except Cigna HMO.
How long will my visits last

Our sessions are 1 hour in duration.  If you need to leave early please let us know ahead of time
Will you communicate with my physician regarding my physical therapy?

Yes. We immediately fax your initial evaluation to your physician. We also perform a discharge at the end of your session and fax it to your physician. Please let us know when your follow up appointment is with your physician, and we will prepare a progress note to keep them up to date on your current status.
